These chasen(tea whisks) are carefully crafted one by one by artisans in Takayama, Nara Prefecture, using the technique of single-son transmission.
The bamboo is naturally dried for 2-3 years, and it takes several days to make one.
Compared to those made overseas, they are flexible and less likely to break, and produce fine-grained matcha.
These are used for formal tea ceremonies.
Used by schools such as Urasenke, this is the most popular shape and size.
